Growing, serving, caring.
CSJ Rocky River was founded on the belief that faith-based senior living can create a true sense of community that not only supports its residents, but also the surrounding community. We welcome neighbors and friends who desire to live in a culture that promotes relationships with the opportunity to connect with the sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph.
As a non-profit 501(c)(3), we’re able to prioritize building relationships and enhancing the quality of life of all residents over the interests of shareholders. Our relationship-centered culture is highly collaborative by nature. Leveraging the strengths and uniqueness of each resident, we build personalized experiences that allow each individual to live their best life possible while being part of the greater community.
If you’d like to learn more about our culture, our community, or our mission, we’d love to start the conversation with you. Call us at 216-438-2637 to schedule your personal appointment with us today.
Our Mission:
CSJ Rocky River reflects the Congregation of St. Joseph’s commitment to respond to the emerging needs of religious congregations, our neighbors, and the world by providing vibrant senior care and living services.
Our History:
In 1872, three sisters, including Mother St. George Bradley, came to the Cleveland Diocese to serve as teachers at St. Mary, Painesville, where the first Cleveland “house” was founded. Through Mother St. George Bradley’s vision, the Cleveland Congregation began.
In 1898, the Cleveland Congregation headed further north in Ohio, when Mother Theresa Fitzmaurice purchased property on a dirt road in the wilderness on the far west side of the city of Cleveland. On these grounds, two buildings were constructed: a motherhouse for the growing community and a boarding school for boys and girls.
In the century since, St. Joseph Convent, Saint Joseph Academy, and the River’s Edge spiritual center were added to the property and expanded our mission. In 2007, the Cleveland founding community joined with our other 6 communities to form the Congregation of St. Joseph. In 2015, CSJ Initiatives started managing the center.
The new CSJ Rocky River assisted living center opened in 2019 to religious congregations; and in the Fall of 2023 they hope to open to Neighbors and Friends. Our ministries grew through passion and a dedication to service, and now includes health care, social work, education, parish ministry, spiritual development, pastoral ministry, and ministry with those who are elderly, homeless, or dying.
